The information on this page is intended to help you evaluate the condition of vinyl records you might buy, and is the grading scale we always use.

Record Grading Guide

We grade all of the records we sell by actually playing them and carefully listening, not just by superficially looking at the vinyl like some sellers do. All records are played and graded using a professional quality Technics direct drive SL-150 MK2 turntable with a SME oil dampened tonearm and Stanton stylus.

The following 10 point scale is used in grading the condition of our records.

10 = (M)   Mint

9 = (NM)   Near Mint

8 = (NM-)  Better than VG but below NM

7 = (VG)   Very Good

6 = (VG-)  Better than G but below VG

5 = (G)    Good

We don't normally sell any record that's not at least 6 (VG-). If it's extremely rare we may make an exception to that policy,  but whether it’s good or bad, we will always clearly state the condition of the record.
