Scarce India Postal Stationery Cover w/ CHAMBA STATE OVERPRINT ca. 1880

Very hard to find piece of very old Indian States postal stationery from Chamba State, in great condition.

Imprinted with an India Half Anna green postage imprint showing the image of Queen Victoria, with strong color, this cover has a  black Chamba State overprint and a beautifully illustrated sunburst (with a face inside the sun) below the imprinted stamp. We're not sure exactly what year this is from, but believe it to be from some time in the 1870s-1880s or so.

No damage of any significance seen other than the gum (original gum is present) has become a bit crackly. The flap has not become stuck down & lifts away from the cover just fine.
